Post 10 - Evaluating your Blogging Experience

Hello everyone

This is the last post and for the last task I have to talk about the experience with the blog sessions. 

To be honest, this course was fun. The idea of a blog is a good way to force ourselfs to write in english. The topics of the blogs are things that we talk everyday or at least we have give an opinion about it, thing that are already interesting to us. It's not a tourture to talk about my hobbies or things that I like. Except blog 7 and 9, it wasn't my favorite topics

I think I'm more comfortable writing now. For years I've always tried to write more in english, or at least more than 2 sentences, with poor results since I wasn't confident enough. I'm always afraid to say or write something wrong, so I always keeped the Google translator open in another tab of the browser to assure that I wasn't saying something stupid. Now I just use it to search for words that I don't know how to translate in english. I think that is a step forward in the right direction.

I would include in this course a little more of listening and a lot more of speaking. Those activities are equally important as writing. We only speak in the oral presentation and now in the exam with only 2 classes to practice. Of course we have to talk when we participate in class, but it's not enough. I think if we have more of those activities it will be better to build confidence in a lot of people.

Lastly, it's a shame that we didn't have an animal topic or talk about our pets. I wanted to talk about my cat and my hedgehog.

Post 9 - Back to the future

hello everyone,

Todays task is talk about time traveling. If I have to choose, I would travel to the future. It's kind of scary, but I want to know what would happen to us. Maybe I can learn something that would change everything and change to another reality.

It's not like I'm not interested in going back to the past, but I have learned from books and movies that if I change things in the past, my present would be different, so no thank you. I like things like they are now. On the other hand, I would travel to the past just as a viewer, like a ghost or something like that, and just watch things to happend, and how did it happend. Learn a little more of errors, maybe.

If I could go back and live in a different period of time, I would live in any period that I could be a princess. Just for a week. It would be a vacation with less technology. Maybe something with dresses and the corsets. Not be able to breathe with a lot of people that smells really bad sounds like awesome vacations. 

I like 2017 and all the facilities that are aviable.

Post 8 - A subject I've enjoyed this semester

Hello everybody

Today task is difficult to me because I don't really like the subjects I have right now, except english of course (wink wink nod nod). But all jokes aside, I think Drawing is the one that I really like. 

Last year it was boring as hell because I had to draw chairs all the time, but this year is all about human body and I love it. Since we already know how to draw things with volume, you have to use the same rules to build a body. Spoiler alert: it's harder, just because in your brain you have a specific picture of how a face or a hand looks like, but the real thing is not like that. You have to learn how to see again. That person in front of you doesn't look like a anime character or a disney princess.

I like Drawing because my teacher likes experimental things, meaning that we can do whatever we want. I've been experimenting with walnut extract using brushes or sponges, now I'm drawing with clay. I know is weird, but really fun.

Post 7 Expert in my field

Hi everybody

I really don't know a lot of sculpure artist, but I really love miniatures and people playing with the infinite thing you can do with them and a camera. So, today I will talk about an artist that his work is about combining this two topics.

Tanaka Tatsuya is a japanese photographer born in 1981. And that's all the information that internet can give me about him. His work is about miniatures and recreating scenes with famous characters, like Mario or Gokú. Nowadays, his catching everybody's eyes with his miniatures that are placed in elements of everyday life to make amazing and creative scenes.

I like his work because of the simplicity, he gives an object a whole new significance as if I can see this world from the perspective of a tiny person. This little people use our objects in a completly different way to fit whatever they want or need to do. And, you know, it's kind of adorable see all this smalls things.

Post 6 - TV shows and series

Hello everybody

Todays task is talk about my favorites shows and oh boy, I'm hoping that this homework will not turn in a rabbit hole of series that I like or want to watch. I consume a lot of tv in general. 

The current ones that I'm watching are Game of Thrones and Rick and Morty. I mean, both had the season finale some time ago. Game of thrones is just an aweosome british show of people fighting each other to be the king of Westeros... and maybe fight against the army of frozen zombies. It's a cool show with blood, sex, bootys and plot twists. Rick and Morty, on the other hand, is an animated show with an alcoholic scientist who is the smartest guy in the universe called Rick having adventures with his grandson Morty, a teenager not really smart. It's sarcastic, smart, with black humor and nihilism, just my cup of tea. I recomend both if you have free time.

I like cartoons that turn out to be more serious or stupid than you first thought. And I like anime as well, I'm an otaku that lives in the closet. I want to re watch some of the shows that I used to watch as a kid, like Hey Arnold! or Invader Zim. Maybe Sakura card captor and Sailor moon since I never finished that one.

Black mirror is an interesting show that I haven't seen. And American Horror Story, everybody told me that is a good show too. Orange is the new black?

I need more time to watch more series.

Post 5 - A photograph I like

Hello everybody

Today task is about a photograph I like and I know it's kind of cheesy, but my favorite one is a photo with my mom and my brother.

I don't know who took this photo. Probably my mom wanted a photo of us with her and asked my dad or somebody else. My brother is a few months old and I'm 2, so I guess the date is around 1995. I love this photo because it shows how much I hated being with my brother. All my body is trying to get away from that little human so my mom puts her hand in my chair so I can't escape. My brother face is epic too, looks like Stephen Hawking with hairless spots in his head.

Another reason of why I like this photo is because all my memories are with my mother and my bother, no dad. So I think it resumes the way I always have seen my family. Just the three of us.

Post 4 My favorite movie

Hi everyone!

Today's task is my favorite movie, and it's a difficult one because I don't have one favorite. I have at least 3 or 4. But if I have to choose, American beauty is the chosen one.

The story is about Lester, an unhappy, generic guy with a phony wife Carolyne that only cares about her career and a teenage daughter Jane, a insecure girl with low self-esteem. A new family arrives to the neighborhood, a homophobic retired marine Frank, her wife who is kind of sick I guess? She's catatonic all the movie. And his son Ricky, a guy who likes to film everything he thinks is beautiful and works as a waiter to cover his real job, a marijuana dealer. Lester life change when he meets Ricky, his fearless way of living inspired him to make a change in this life and I reaaally don't want to spoil the movie, you should watch it. It's a movie about changes and not everything new that you think is good for you ends in a good way.

I like to watch mindblower movies: inception, black swan, fight club, the prestige, etc. I like when the plot changes in a direction I didn't see it coming. It's fun.

Recently I saw Scott Pilgrim vs the world, it's a dumb movie super nerd with fun visuals and a light plot. I don't think is the taste of everyone, but is a good movie to watch when you're bored. Comics are better though.

Post 3 - My favorite piece of technology

Hello guys,

Todays task is talking about our favorite technology device. It's hard to choose one. I have 3 favorites: cellphone, PC (mine it's called Belphegor because is the sloth demon) and my mp3. I only use my PC to play and do homework and lost my mp3 3 months ago, so the winner of this match is my cellphone.

The one I have right now was a birthday gift from my father, is a Samsung j7 prime and it's a really good device. I use it to wake up every morning, hear music (I miss you mp3, come back), read emails, check facebook and whatsapp regulary, play sudoku. You know, everything but the main purpose of it. This thing is attached to my hand all day.

The truth is that I don't know if I really like it. I mean, yeah, is useful and makes my life easier, but sometimes it's just annoying to be connected to the world every single day all the time. Maybe I should turn it off and be by myself a day or two.

My life without it? I would get bored. Like, really bored. And it would be hard to get up in the morning. It's a bad excuse to be late for class.

Maybe I should get another mp3 so I don't have the deal with the low battery issue.

Post 2 - Why did I choose Art

Todays task is about our career and why did I choose it.

When I was a child, I wanted to be everything that the tv showed to me. Fashion designer, dentist, vet, nurse, teacher, artist, chef. As I grew older, thing like biology and art got my interest. My fathers told me that art won't give me money to live, so the scientific area was my only choice.

As you can expect, that career didn't work out. I hated everything of it, the teachers, my classmates, the university itself. But one day, a friend told me about his ex girlfriend. She studied graphic design and was starting a pedagogy course, so she would become an art teacher. I got excited. Maybe that was the thing I was looking to do. So here I am.

My experience in this carreer is better from the other. Is nice to be in a place you want to be. I love my teachers, my classmates aren't idiots. The burocracy is still a pain in the ass, but I don't think it can be changed.

I would like to teach in the school I graduated. I know is kind of romantic, but is my dream work. Deal with it.

Post 1 - About me

Hello everybody,

Today task is my autobiography, so here we go.

On April 13th 1993 I was born. It was a rainy, my grandma always told me that it was the worst rain in years and they almost had to swim to the hospital.

At the age of 3 I went to my first school, graduated at the age of 17 and the next 4 years I studied a carreer that I hated, Medical Technology in Universidad de Chile. Worst 4 years of my life. My mom realised that it wasn't my jam and let me study the only thing that I like: art.

I live with my mom and my brother, 3 dogs and a cat here in Santiago. Most of my family is in Argentina, so we were adopted by some friends that I can call my aunts, uncles and cousins.

I like videogames, mostly for PC and 3DS. Im a nerd. If I'm not playing, I'm in YouTube. I love cooking videos and make up tutorials, even if I don't know how to do it (every time I tried I looked like a drag or a clown. Or both). Also, I'm trying to lose weight so the gym is my new friend and my new activity in my free time.

Expectations

Hi everyone,

My name is Tatiana and I'm studying Plastic Arts at Universidad de Chile.

Todays task is writing about the expectations of this English course. I'm expecting to be more confident with my English skills, my speaking in particular. I would like to have topics like what music do we like, talk about our pets (I want to talk about my cat because she is the best), places we would like to visit and what movies or TV shows do we like. 

To be honest, I think writing and reading are the easiest skill to learn. I mean, is kind of difficult to learn some rules, but eventually you learn and understand the words and how to put in a sentence by repetition. But speaking or listening? Those are really really hard. The pronunciation of some letters are so different between English and Spanish and some accents are impossible to understand even when I try my best. It's like I need subtitles to understand people.

It's kind of fun this class. I like blogs and writing about things I like. This is a fun way to force our selfs speak English, to make us see that learning a different language is useful and we can communicate with others, more people can understand us. And let's be honest, boring things always sound cooler in English.
